About

The PA HERP IDENTIFICATION project was developed as a guide for the Reptiles and Amphibians of Pennsylvania. The guides show Coloration and Pattern differences among species though out PA along with information on ID characteristics. The site had and ID page for each species that are found through out Pennsylvania that includes the characteristic information, detailed photos and range maps.

PA HERP IDENTIFICATION project is an educational tool for the public on the herpetile found though out Pennsylvania. The project also aims to create knowledge to Pennsylvania residents not only through the internet, but also through interaction with the public, with the help of volunteers in the field to communicate with individuals on a personal level.

The owner and designer of the PA HERP ID site is Jason Poston. Jason Poston is a freelance visual communications expert and photographer. When Mr. Poston is not working from his home business Spllogics Designs, in Pittsburgh, PA he is out exploring the South West portions of Pennsylvania and other states collecting data and photos of local herpetile. Mr. Poston is a field herpetologist by hobby and most of his work is revolved around his interest in reptiles and amphibians and the concern for conservation. He started the PA Herp ID project to help the public understand and be able to identify the herpetile in their backyard and to become more knowledgeable with these animals and how to properly identify them.
